Kudos to Seeds of Hope for creating a great event on Sunday evening July 27th at the Belle Marie Winery in Escondido. This was an inspiring event where 130 people saw the premier  their newest video sharing the work their team is doing in Costa Rica by creating Club Houses for boys and girls. It was a great opportunity to meet  Penny and Chris, founders of Seeds of Hope. The organization truly “walks the walk” as they work with these children to provide them refuge from the dangerous of human trafficking by providing food, an opportunity to learn English and Tourism and to make jewelry.

I always say give credit where credit is due and so I want to share with you some great nonprofit organizations and small businesses doing great work or using innovative approaches.

I’m so excited to highlight Boys to Men in La Mesa CA, who are inspiring boys 11-17 at risk of failing in their education. Boys to Men helps boys find a new hope and new possibilities for their future. The biggest problem boys are facing today is an absence of a father or positive male role model. Fact: 33% of boys are growing up without a father. That fact is having a detrimental and devastating impact on our boys’ futures. Because of this, many boys end up lost and lack the guidance they need from a male role model. This results in boys making bad decisions including gang activity, drugs, dropping out of school and discipline problems in school.

But there is hope. Boys to Men provides boys a safe place to express their feelings, share what is going on in their lives and meet with a mentor on a weekly basis at their school. This program is life changing! Over 6500 boys have been served by Boys to Men since March 2013!
